Michael Louis didn't make it far on Friday afternoon after attempting to evade officers following a crash that wound up with him fleeing on foot before being captured.
Deputies from the sheriff's office were called shortly before 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1 to the intersection of Butler Road and Camden Drive, where there was a reported crash where one of the drivers attempted to leave the area by running away.
He didn't make it far, and Louis was tracked down not far from the crash scene on Castle Rock Drive.
The Fredericksburg native is no stranger to the police, officials said, as he was also wanted out of Spotsylvania for failure to appear in court for a separate hit-and-run case.
When prompted by arresting deputies why he tried to run, Louis said with no compunction that it was because his license was suspended, according to a spokesperson from the sheriff's office.
Things only got worse for Louis from there, when investigating deputies searched his vehicle and found multiple controlled substances, adding more charges to his growing criminal record.
Louis was arrested and charged with:
- Felony leaving the scene of a crash;
- Possession of controlled substances;
- Driving while suspended.
He was also served on the outstanding warrant.
Louis is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
